BARBERA D'ALBA SORELLE DE NICOLA 2019 DESCRIPTION

The Barbera d'Alba Superiore from Sorelle de Nicola – Feyles expresses the best qualities of the grape variety and the territory: structure, fullness, and elegant intensity. The Piedmontese winery Feyles - Sorelle de Nicola works exclusively with grapes from its own vineyards, spread over 7 hectares in the prestigious Langhe region, between the municipalities of Neive, where everything began, and Monforte d'Alba, where in addition to Nebbiolo, other black berry varieties of the tradition, namely Dolcetto and Barbera, are cultivated.

Feyles – Sorelle de Nicola Barbera d'Alba Superiore is a 100% Barbera from vines located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, particularly in the Manzoni Soprani vineyard, located right next to the Barolo production area. The plot, which extends over about one hectare, is cultivated excluding the use of herbicides and developing the rows in height, in order to optimize solar irradiation, already excellent due to the southwest exposure. After the manual harvesting of the grapes at the beginning of October, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation follows for 30 days in stainless steel tanks, without temperature control and with frequent pump-overs. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is transferred to Slavonian oak barrels of 30 and 50 hectoliters for maturation for 6 months, followed by further bottle aging before final commercialization. Throughout the entire process, the use of filtration or stabilization operations is avoided.

The color of the Barbera d'Alba Superiore from Sorelle de Nicola – Feyles is intense ruby red with crimson reflections. From the glass emerge vivid and complex fruity and spicy aromas reminiscent of blackberry, plum, pepper, cloves, and vanilla. The palate is full and robust, with a strong character, soft tannins, marked freshness, and long persistence.
