Tenuta Masseto is one of the prestigious properties of Tenuta Ornellaia, one of Italy's most famous names in the world. For several years now, this satellite estate has been giving birth to the Masseto wine, a very prestigious Merlot that reigns among the great Italian excellences. The 7 hectares of vineyards are located in the Tuscan hills of the Bolgheri area, an area of rare beauty and great value. It all began in 1981 when Marquis Lodovico Antinori founded the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia and a few years later conceived the queen of Supertuscans: Ornellaia, a wine that became the undisputed symbol of the Bolgheri area.

Where the Masseto vineyard stands, there was once a coastal marsh, which, over the years, with the accumulation of deposits of clayey deposits from the sea and erosion from the surrounding mountains, has given rise to an area that is simply perfect for the cultivation of vines. In addition, earthquakes have allowed the blue clays from the Pliocene era to rise to the surface, which not only impart an aromatic richness to the wine, but also waterproof the soil without swelling it with water. The area's unique, mild climate is affected by the pleasant Mediterranean sun balanced by the cool breezes rising from the sea. The vineyard is divided into three sub-areas with different territorial compositions between them: Alto, Centrale and Junior. In addition, each area has plots with different characteristics, creating a complex mosaic capable of offering different nuances of the same terroir.

The Masseto Estate is directed by President Alex Belson and by enologist Axel Heinz who has the final say in the production of the wine. Indeed, he decides how to blend the various particles, which ferment and age separately, in order to compose a Masseto of great expressiveness that reflects the course of the vintage as spontaneously as possible. In short, with all these elements and almost perfect care, this legendary winery has carved out a place for itself among the world's most prestigious wine producers.

"Un’armoniosa combinazione del terroir e dell’interpretazione umana"
