'CATAVELA' DENAVOLO DESCRIPTION

The "Catavela" by Denavolo is Giulio Armani's introductory wine, an irresistible macerated wine that stands out for its light-heartedness and easy drinkability. We are not exaggerating when we say that Giulio Armani is one of the iconic faces of Italian artisanal wine, thanks to decades of hands-on experience and a consistent line of thought, never swayed by current trends or commercial needs. Giulio's wine, or rather wines, speak of the land in an intimate and visceral way, capable of distinguishing themselves clearly depending on altitudes and microclimates, never homogenized by skin maceration, a common practice throughout the Piacenza region for the production of white wines. The local queen is undoubtedly Malvasia di Candia aromatica, accompanied by Ortrugo and a bit of Marsanne, a grape variety now well-rooted locally, all united by the fact that they undergo no chemical or synthetic treatment. These are undeniable cornerstones that must be present in every respectable cellar.

The wine "Catavela" is an orange wine of great personality. In the vineyard, Giulio's approach is rigorous, so the only substances allowed are a bit of copper and sulfur, and in the cellar, the meticulousness continues with spontaneous fermentations and for all white wines produced, more or less long skin macerations depending on the label. The Catavela, a lighter and more carefree wine, macerates for only 7 days on the skins in steel containers.

The "Catavela" presents itself in the glass with a splendid luminous amber hue. The nose is splendid for its freshness and definition, with successive hints of orange peel, apricot, and aromatic herbs. The liquid does not lack incisiveness, while having a lean and very juicy sip, a real powerhouse even on hot summer days. A resounding rebuttal to those who talk about the homogenization of orange wines.
