Chianti Classico Riserva from the Castellare di Castellina winery is a territorial label made from Sangiovese, combined with a small percentage of Canaiolo. It is born in the Chianti lands from a company that has managed to combine ancient Tuscan tradition with noble French harmony and elegance. The long ageing in wood and bottle allows the wine to present a soft and evolved profile, particularly appreciated by those who prefer reds with rich and expressive fruit, pleasantly persuasive and balanced. It is a bottle to prune on the table with a roast, grilled meat or small game.
The red Chianti Classico Riserva Castellare di Castellina comes from Paolo Panerai's Tuscan Chianti estate, which has always been run with the intention of producing great terroir wines. The Sangiovese and Canaiolo vines are cultivated within the Castellina in Chianti estate, at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level, on soils of predominantly limestone matrix, very suitable for red grapes. Harvesting takes place in early October, and the best grapes are sent for fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine rests for 15 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux and completes the long ageing process with 15 months in the bottle before release for sale.
Castellare di Castellina's Chianti Classico Riserva wine confirms the classic, smooth style of the great reds that have always made this winery famous. Its interpretation of Sangiovese is always aimed at the search for a taste balance, which privileges the richness of the fruit. To the eye, it has a brilliant ruby colour with light garnet reflections. Intense and elegant, it opens on the nose with scents of ripe cherries, morello cherries, small red berries, floral nuances, delicately spicy hints, and memories of noble woods and leather. The palate has a good structure, with a dense and evolved tannic texture and a sip characterized by good complexity and aromatic persistence. The closure is harmonious and pleasantly fresh. A perfect interpretation of Chianti terroir.
