Rioja 'Labirinto' Vina Ane 2021

The family-run winery Viña Ane presents the Rioja 'Labirinto', a pure Tempranillo with a deep mineral soul. It's an expression of strains from a very old single vineyard named Valseca, which for years produced little or no grapes, earning the nickname "cepas falsas", meaning "false vines". Everything changed in 2009, when the poorly productive vines of that vineyard began to bear small clusters, characterized by extraordinary concentration. Hence the idea of the producer Eduardo Monge to vinify the grapes from these strains separately, strains that Eduardo must mark for the harvesters each time, finding himself facing an "oenological labyrinth", hence the name of the label.

The Rioja Viña Ane 'Labirinto' is a 100% Tempranillo from vines over 50 years old grown on clay-limestone soils, located at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level. Harvesting is accompanied by careful selection of the clusters, which are then red vinified through 10 days of alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature in French oak barrels associated with 5 days of skin maceration. The subsequent aging period, which lasts for 14 months, takes place in French oak barrels and precedes further bottle aging before the final release to the market.

The 'Labirinto' Rioja from Viña Ane is a garnet red color with violet hues. The olfactory panorama offers fruity aromas of blueberry and black currant merging with sensations of cedar, dark chocolate, toasted nuts, all complemented by elegant mineral hints. On the palate, it is intense, fresh, and flavorful, with mature and well-present tannins guiding the long-lasting mineral finish.
