Dalwhinnie distillery is one of the highest of Scotland, based in the region of the Scottish Highlands, a few kilometers from the beautiful Cairngorms Mountains. Founded in 1897, the name comes from the Gaelic and means "meeting point", as the crossroads of shepherds and cattle. The same name place in which it is located is officially regarded as the coldest of the entire UK, reason why, in addition to being a fine distillery, it is also home of an official weather station.

The Dalwhinnie distillery produces Single Malt whisky using water from Lochan an Doire Uaine (from the Gaelic, "Lake of the green grove"), which is 600 meters high on Drumochter Hills, one of the clearest and coolest waters of the region. The style is typical of the Highlands: a strong combination of sweetness and strength.

The distillery keeps old traditions such as the classic wood that is still used for the washbacks or the two copper stills with very high neck that send alcohol into the leaching pipes to the distiller. Dalwhinnie produces each year an average of 1.3 million liters of pure spirit, using only 10% for its Single Malts. The malt used is slightly peaty to give the right smoky scent, which combines with the one of heather surrounding the distillery and that characterizes its products. The distillery is home of two internal warehouse that can accommodate more than 5,000 barrels, predominantly ex-bourbon. Some distiller's edition, however, are matured in Oloroso sherry casks.

Among its products, we recommend the Single Malt 15 years, 25 years and the Distiller's Edition Single Malt. Whiskies that, accompanied by a good piece of chocolate, as recommended by the master distiller, will give the impression to carry you on to snowy peaks.
