Musso 'Pora' Barbaresco is an elegant red wine from Piedmont, with a full, warm sip and a broad bouquet of ripe red fruit, dried flowers and slight spicy nuances of cinnamon and vanilla. Aged for 24 months in wood, this full-bodied and austere wine can be left a few years in the cellar, before being opened and enjoyed with important red meat and game dishes
Langhe winery Musso presents Barbaresco 'Pora,' a refined and seductive label that traces the noble qualities of the appellation. Barbaresco represents the centerpiece of the Musso winery's production, and it is no coincidence that roughly half of the estate's varietal platform is devoted to Nebbiolo. The Additional Geographical Mention of Pora is located in the southwestern part of the municipality of Barbaresco, right next to the Tanaro, a river that exerts a strong influence on the vineyard by cooling the temperature in hot years and reflecting the sun's rays.
Musso Barbaresco 'Pora' is an expression of pure Nebbiolo from 2.5 hectares of the Pora cru, characterized by a predominantly calcareous soil with frequent clay intersections. In addition, the vines benefit from west-southwest exposure and elevation between 240 and 280 meters above sea level. Manual harvesting is followed by crushing and destemming and then alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by about 20 days of maceration on the skins during which daily pumping over is applied. After racking, the mass is transferred to 50-hectoliter oak barrels for aging for 12 months followed by an additional 10-12 months in 20-hectoliter oak barrels before bottling.
Musso winery's Barbaresco 'Pora' has a deep garnet red color. The aromatic ensemble is woven from warm, ethereal perceptions of ripe red fruits, cherries in spirit and dried flowers that combine with hints of sweet spices such as cinnamon and vanilla. Soft and firm on the palate, where the enveloping warmth is well balanced by the fresh-sappy component and the perfectly integrated tannins.
