Barbera d'Alba Musso 2021

Barbera d'Alba Musso is a red wine with a warm and intense sip, well balanced by a pleasant savory streak that mitigates its marked alcohol content. Its soft toasted and spicy aromas accompanied by well-pronounced notes of ripe red fruit make it an ideal wine to pair with structured, homemade dishes, such as the first courses of Piedmontese cuisine

BARBERA D'ALBA MUSSO 2021 DESCRIPTION

Barbera d'Alba from the Piedmont production reality Musso is a bottle with a lively and fruity taste, characteristics proper to this black grape variety. The estate, located within the municipality of Barbaresco, manages just over 10 hectares of vineyards reserved for the traditional varieties of Basso Piemonte, namely Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa and Arneis. All processing takes place in the winery owned by the Musso family, now represented by Valter, his son Emanuele, who works alongside him in sales and communications, and his nephew Luca Accornero, who together with Valter manages the vineyards.

Musso Barbera d'Alba originates from only Barbera grapes grown between 240 and 270 meters above sea level. The vines, facing southwest, rest on predominantly calcareous soils characterized by frequent interference of clay, which gives greater thickness to the soil. The clusters are harvested by hand and then stripped of their stems and pressed, with the resulting must fermenting in contact with the skins, for part of the mass in stainless steel tanks and the remainder in 500-liter oak tonneaux. Once the fermentation processes are complete, the two masses are assembled for aging for about 12 months, first in tonneau and then in large 20-hectoliter barrels, followed by an additional year of bottle aging before release.

The color of Musso's Barbera d'Alba is deep garnet red with ruby highlights. The nose expands on ethereal and intensely fruity aromas of cherries under spirits and berries, enhanced by toasted and spicy notes of cinnamon and vanilla. Intense, enveloping sip, well balanced by lively freshness and smooth tannin.
