Chateau Alexandre's Bordeaux Rouge is a fresh and fruity red wine from the Garonne Valley in France. It is a pure Merlot vinified in stainless steel tanks and in oak barrels, evoking intense hints of red and black fruits wrapped in an intriguing mineral note. Harmonious and with gentle tannins, it pairs divinely with red meats and mixed cheeses
The Bordeaux Rouge signed Chateau Alexandre is a pure Merlot that is appreciated for its distinctly fruity and very clean taste. This red wine originates in the Entre-deux-Mers area, where the family-run Chateau Alexandre was founded in 1964. The appellation 'Entre-deux-Mers' comes from the French expression 'entre deux marées', literally 'between the two tides', to emphasise the geographical position of the area, squeezed between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers.
Chateau Alexandre Bordeaux Rouge is a 100% Merlot from vines planted about 25 years ago at an altitude of 100 metres above sea level, in a position overlooking the Garonne valley. The vines grow on soils composed of a layer of surface gravel lying on top of a layer of clay and limestone, with an excellent south and south-east exposure that allows the grapes to ripen optimally. Once harvested, the grapes are transferred to the cellar for classic red vinification with alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins. This is followed by ageing for several months in French oak barrels before final bottling.
The Bordeaux Chateau Alexandre Rouge is dark ruby red in colour with purple highlights. The nose perceives pleasant and clear fruity aromas of red and black fruits, such as blackberry, cherry and blueberry, flanked by a fine mineral note. In the mouth, it is very dense and full-bodied, yet not lacking in freshness and harmony, with tannins that are present but not at all rigid to accompany the clean, fruity finish. We recommend pairing this Bordeaux Rouge with mature cheeses or with various meat dishes, white or red, such as roasts, stews and grilled meats.
