Flors di Uis from Vie di Romans winery is an intense and aromatic white wine produced in Mariano del Friuli, in the province of Gorizia, Friuli Venezia Giulia. This expression is made from a blend of Malvasia Istriana, Riesling Renano and Tocai Friulano grapes from the Boghis, Ciampagnis and Vie di Romans vineyards located at an altitude of about 29-34 meters (29-34 feet) with different exposures. The vines, which have an average age of about 25 years, are trained using the guyot and spurred cordon pruning methods on skeleton-rich soils characterized by reddish-coloured silty-clay soils due to the presence of iron oxide. The winery is a family-run business, owning about 60 hectares under vine, now managed by Gianfranco Gallo, who, through rigorous and bold viticultural choices combined with careful oenological interpretation, has established a unique quality style with a great personality.
Vie di Romans' Flors di Uis is made from carefully selected grapes harvested entirely by hand in the first half of September. Upon reaching the winery, the grapes are destemmed and undergo a short cold maceration before being pressed and undergoing alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature of about 16-19 °C for at least 18-22 days. The wine is then aged for at least 8 months in stainless steel containers on its own yeasts before being bottled and continues its maturation in the bottle for an additional 10 months before release.
Uis' Vie di Romans Flors shows the eye a beautiful deep golden yellow colour. Intense aromas of yellow and tropical fruits appear on the nose, including mango, lytchee and passion fruit, with floral notes of rose and linden, citrusy hints of orange and spicy hints of clove and sweet spices. In the mouth, it is full, warm and enveloping, marked by a good body and a pleasant freshness, at times savoury. This white from the Vie di Romans winery is a deep, smooth and juicy wine that impresses with its persuasive elegance.
