Mezcal Joven Casamigos

Casamigos' Mezcal Joven is a distilled spirit with a pure, mineral style produced in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Behind the Casamigos project lies the passion of three friends George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman for tequila and mezcal, popular agave spirits that are part of Mexico's tradition and culture. To ensure the traditional and artisanal character of its spirits, Casamigos works with families in the states of Jalisco and Oaxaca who have been involved in the production of high-quality mezcal and tequila for generations.

For the production of Casamigos Mezcal Joven, only Espadin agave grown in Oaxaca, southern Mexico, is used. Once harvested and cleaned, the heart of the agave, locally called 'piña', is processed according to artisanal methods with a cooking time of 4-6 days in underground ovens built from volcanic or river rocks. After cooking and about 24 hours of cooling, the piña is then pressed using the so-called 'Tahona wheel', a very heavy volcanic stone wheel traditionally used in the artisanal production of mezcal. At this point, the sugary juice obtained undergoes a 6-8 day alcoholic fermentation before being distilled in discontinuous copper stills. The mezcal is finally bottled without passing through wood, thus in the Joven category.

Casamigos' Mezcal Joven has a crystal-clear and transparent appearance. On the nose, decisive and fragrant fruity and herbaceous sensations emerge, enriched by notes of grapefruit, tamarind and black pepper and smoky hints. The sip stands out for its intensity and expressive purity, as well as its smooth and silky progression enhanced by persistent peppery and smoky returns.
