'Pino di Biserno' Tenuta di Biserno 2021

The 'Pino di Biserno' by Tenuta di Biserno, tuscany winery discovered by Lodovico Antinori, is a red wine with elegant character and finesse. An assembly of several red berry vines that are aged mostly in new and second hand barriques. Wood well dosed that does not invade the smell, whispering spicy and herbaceous sensations, and which concentrates a fine liquid, Mediterranean with mature and well integrated tannins

'PINO DI BISERNO' TENUTA DI BISERNO 2021 DESCRIPTION

Tenuta di Biserno's "Pino di Biserno" is an intense, Mediterranean Bordeaux blend, born in the beautiful hilly terrain of Tuscany's Upper Maremma. It is a Supertuscan made from Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, all international grape varieties that have adapted well to the climate and soils of this prized stretch of the Tuscan Coast, yielding ripe, rich and harmonious reds.

The red "Pino di Biserno" sees the light of day in the wonderful vineyards of the Biserno Estate, discovered by Lodovico Antinori in 1995. This is a plot bordering Bibbona to the north and Bolgheri to the south, characterized by alluvial soils composed of limestone, clay and polished pebbles, which ensure good drainage. In the areas richer in clay, Merlot was planted, while the areas richer in conglomerate and limestone were planted with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The climate is typically Mediterranean, hot and dry, mitigated only by breezes from the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, which soften temperatures allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and gradually. Harvests and fermentations take place separately according to the ripening period of the grapes. After soft crushing and destemming, fermentations take place in steel. Ninety percent of the wine matures for 12 months in new and used barriques while 10 percent in steel.

"Pino di Biserno" is a red that well represents the characteristic harmonious and mature face that Bordeaux grapes give in the Tuscan Maremma. Despite the use of international grape varieties, it is a wine with a typically territorial character. In the glass it is a beautiful intense ruby red. The bouquet is characterized by aromas of small dark berry fruits, currants, blackberry, blueberry, hints of Mediterranean maquis herbs, spicy nuances and slight woody memories. The sip is important, beautifully structured, with tannic texture well balanced by rich, deep fruit. The finish is refreshing and closes on delicately spiced notes.
