Palari winery's Rosso del Soprano is an elegant, fresh and fruity wine that comes from vineyards overlooking the Strait of Messina, right on the extreme northeastern tip of Sicily. It is a wine with a typically territorial face, made from red grapes traditionally grown locally. A majority percentage of Nerello Mascalese is joined by Nerello Cappuccio, Nocera and Galatena to complete the blend. The brief passage in wood makes the wine harmonious and mature while retaining the fruity fragrance that makes the sip particularly immediate and captivating.
Rosso del Soprano is produced by the most famous winery in the small Faro appellation. The Palari estate cultivates 7 hectares of vineyards in the magnificent hilly area of Santo Stefano Briga, overlooking the sea of the Strait of Messina. Palari has had the great merit of restoring the wines of the Messina area to their former glory, enhancing an area with great potential and working with the native red grape varieties that have always been present in this area. The climate, warm and Mediterranean, is always very breezy and mitigated by sea breezes, which completely surround the small point of land of Faro. The sandy soils and the presence of old vines give grapes of great quality and aromatic concentration. In the winery, it is sufficient to intervene as little as possible to transfer the excellence of the terroir to the bottle. The wines are striking for the refinement of aromas, the freshness of the sip and the extraordinary drinkability.
The Rosso del Soprano wine produced by the Sicilian winery Palari is a classic cuvée of the terroir, well reflecting the character of this small windy corner of Sicily. At the end of the harvest, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts. The wine matures in second-passage barriques, where it remains from 6 to 12 months, depending on the vintage. It is bottled without any clarification or filtration and completes ageing in a glass before being put on the market. In the glass, it is ruby red in colour. The olfactory profile is characterized by aromas of small red berries, hints of berry jam, floral and spicy nuances. The palate is harmonious and enveloping, with a fine tannic texture and delicate, fragrant fruit. The finish is long, savoury and pleasantly refreshing. A marine and Mediterranean red, a perfect interpreter of the terroir.
