The Darkest Bowmore Whisky 15 Years is one of the magnificent whisky of the oldest distillery in Islay, the southernmost island of the Hebrides, crossed every day by the sea breeze. Craft techniques date back to the foundation of the distillery, dated 1779, and have been handed down over the centuries through families, who have taken in management: the production has never been interrupted since then, except during the two world wars. The importance and reputation that has taken around the world, has led it to be christened with the name of the town in which it resides, bathed by the crystal clear waters of Loch Indaal. The warehouse, the famous "No. 1 Vaults" is, also, the oldest in Scotland, the home of the greatest whiskies, and has unique characteristics: lying below sea level, offers to the spirits darkness, high humidity level and cold temperature, ideal conditions for a valuable maturation. Among to the hard work of the inhabitants of the island, there is nature, which ensures a high quality to that whisky: barley, peat and pure water from the nearby river Laggan, are the ingredients that make it highly tasty, with a phenol content that is around 25 ppm. Twelve years, of the fifteen of aging, are spent in bourbon casks and the last three in Oloroso sherry casks: this combination makes the flavors and aromas of the "Darkest" Bowmore extremely balanced, gently peaty and chocolate delicious...A richness and an extreme intensity, both in the appearance and the character, which result in a disarming sweetness velvety.
