Tonini

Located in Isera, a municipality on the southern side of the Trento DOC area, the Tonini winery is the protagonist of a production focused on both sparkling wines and Marzemino, a traditional black grape variety. The Tonini family, owners of the estate, have always dedicated themselves to viticulture in the Vallagarina, the area in which the municipality of Isera falls, but only officially began the modern history of the winery in 2011, with the sale of the first bottles marketed under the family surname. At the helm of the estate are Marco Tonini, the founder of the project, and his son Filippo, strong from his studies at the Istituto Agrario di San Michele all'Adige.

The Tonini family cultivates approximately 8 hectares of vineyards, reserved for the white Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco varieties, destined for sparkling wine production, as well as the Marzemino grape, used to make still red wines. The rows of vines, located at altitudes of up to 800 metres above sea level, are cultivated using environmentally friendly practices based on organic farming principles. The plants then benefit from the area's special microclimate, the result of the cold Alpine air and the mitigating influence of Lake Garda. In addition, the vineyards lie on well-sunlit hillsides, a factor that contributes to the perfect ripening of the grapes. All vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks in order to enhance the freshness and varietal attributes of the vines. For the sparkling wines, the mousse takes place in the bottle according to the Metodo Classico, associated with long ageing on the lees, which is important for giving the wine structure and depth. Furthermore, to enhance their expressive purity, these sparkling wines are marketed as Brut Nature, excluding any dosage.

The Trento DOC sparkling wines from the Tonini winery, the flagship of the family, reflect themountainous spirit of the appellation, with an unusual freshness and mineral timbre, capable of lending impetus to the taste progression.
