Liquore Genepy Extra La Valdotaine

Genepy 'Extra' liqueur from La Valdotaine is a fine liqueur from Valle d'Aosta to be appreciated for its fresh and balsamic character. Like all Genepy, this traditional liqueur is produced from a selection of artemisias, a rather large plant genus that also includes wormwood. There are three different hypotheses regarding the origin of the name Artemisia. The first refers to the Greek goddess of hunting Artemis, the second to Queen Artemisia of Caria, a Greek ruler who lived in the 4th century BC, and the third to the Greek word 'artemes', meaning 'healthy', a reference to the medicinal properties of the plant. Indeed, artemisia has always been appreciated for its tonic, diuretic and digestive properties, among other things.

For the production of Genepy La Valdotaine Liqueur 'Extra', small artemisias grown in the mountains of the Aosta Valley at an incredible altitude of 1,900-2,000 metres above sea level are used. Following harvesting and careful selection, the artemisias undergo a careful drying process before infusion in a pure alcohol solution. The maceration allows the extraction of the precious aromas contained in the botanicals and after an appropriate period of maturation the liqueur is finally ready for marketing.

On visual inspection, Genepy 'Extra' Liqueur by La Valdotaine shows an intense golden yellow colour. On the nose, decisive and pleasant vegetal sensations emerge, surrounded by balsamic notes and seductive hints of artemisia flower. The taste surprises with its exceptional balance between measured sweetness, soft envelopment and balsamic freshness, elements that unite in an intense, elegant and persistent progression, characterised by a delicately bitter finish.
