SAINT-EMILION CHATEAU LA ROSE BOUQUEY 2021 DESCRIPTION

Chateau La Rose Bouquey's signature Saint-Emilion is a smooth and juicy blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, produced near the commune of Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of the Dordogne river. This charming medieval village, located in the hilly area of Libournais, is characterised by its beautiful Romanesque churches, ancient ruins and charming alleyways, factors that, combined with the area's prestigious wine-growing tradition, led to the recognition of the municipality and the surrounding vineyards as a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 1999. The village is located on a limestone plateau and was mainly built using stones hewn from the same rock in the area, according to legend by the Breton monk Emilion, a native of Vannes.

Chateau La Rose Bouquey Saint-Emilion is produced from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from vines of an average age of 35 years, cultivated on soils with a high proportion of clay and sand. Following the harvest, the grapes are mellowed in stainless steel tanks, containers in which alcoholic fermentation takes place with maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is decanted into French oak barrels for the 12-month ageing process that precedes the final bottling.

To the eye, the Saint-Emilion of Chateau La Rose Bouquey expresses an intense ruby red colour. The olfactory mosaic is made up of intriguing sensations of black berries and red fruits, enhanced by floral nuances and hints of tobacco and fine woods from the passage in oak. The taste, complex and elegant, reveals good freshness and sweet tannins, elements that support the rich structure and round body, anticipating the intense fruity finish.
