Priorat 'Vall Por' Sangenis i Vaqué 2019

Priorat 'Vall Por' from Sangenis i Vaqué is a fresh, velvety red wine made from Cariñena and Garnacha grapes. It dresses the glass with an intense ruby colour and, on the nose, intoxicates with fruity, spicy and mineral aromas such as wild strawberries, currants, liquorice and flint, to name but a few. "Vall Por" matures 12 months in French and American oak barrels, intensifying its structure and persistence. Ideal companion for barbecues with friends and aperitifs with cheese and cured meat platters

PRIORAT 'VALL POR' SANGENIS I VAQUÉ 2019 DESCRIPTION

Priorat 'Vall Por' from the Catalan estate Sangenís I Vaqué is a blend of Cariñena and Garnacha to be appreciated for its completeness and aromatic richness. The name 'Vall Por' is a tribute to the town of Porrera, the centre of one of the most important sub-zones of Priorat, located at the eastern end of the denomination and called in ancient times precisely Vall de la Por. This appellation would appear to derive from the expression 'valley of fear', although other theories refer to the Latin name 'Vallem Porreram', meaning 'valley of leeks'.

Sangenís I Vaqué 'Vall Por' Priorat is made from a blend of Carinena (60%) and Garnacha Tinta (40%) grapes, varieties cultivated according to organic farming principles on soils characterised by an abundance of slate. The grapes are hand-picked, carefully selected and then destemmed, with the subsequent vinification process taking place in old underground tanks lined with ceramic, containers in which alcoholic fermentation is accompanied by pellicular maceration. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is racked into multi-passage wooden barrels, 80% French Allier oak and 20% American oak, barrels in which the 12-month ageing phase takes place, at the end of which the wine is bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration.

Priorat Sangenís I Vaqué 'Vall Por' has an intense ruby red colour. Wild berries, liquorice, black pepper, various spices and flint are just some of the scents that describe the nose, notes that we find on the palate together with a pleasant freshness and a velvety tannic texture. A Priorat intense, concentrated and persistent, a full expression of the terroir, suitable for ageing 5 years and more.
