WHITE 'PRELUDIO' VENIT 2022 DESCRIPTION

The 'Preludio' white wine from the Venit winery is a savoury, slender-tasting label made from a blend of Soreli, Fleurtai, Sauvignon Rytos and Sauvignon Nepis grapes, all PIWI varieties. The 'pilzwiderstandfähig' varieties, a German expression meaning 'resistant to fungi', better known by the acronym 'PIWI', are genetic hybrids selected over time because of their remarkable resistance to the main vine diseases, namely powdery mildew and downy mildew, pathogens strongly feared by wine-growers. The use of PIWI varieties therefore allows a drastic reduction in phytosanitary treatments, thus significantly limiting the environmental impact of the crops.

Venit 'Preludio' Bianco consists of a blend of PIWI Soreli, Fleurtai, Sauvignon Rytos and Sauvignon Nepis, organically certified varieties grown on medium-textured, clayey soils. When the grapes have reached the right stage of ripeness, manual harvesting is carried out, followed by white vinification through soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The 7-month maturation period also takes place in stainless steel, spent on the fine lees and accompanied by frequent bâtonnage. The final release takes place no earlier than a further 4 months of bottle ageing.

Venit's 'Preludio' Bianco has a bright straw yellow colour. The aromatic bouquet is defined by floral hints of camomile, citrusy hints of grapefruit and hints of white-fleshed fruit such as peach and apple, all enriched by herbaceous nuances of thyme and tomato leaf. The taste is slender and refreshing, with a marked savoury timbre that accompanies the clean finish, characterised by returns consistent with the notes perceived on the nose.
