Planeta is the symbol of a Sicily that has managed to relaunch itself remarkably, a Sicily that looks to the horizon of the sunny coastline and the wild nature of the hinterland. It was only founded in 1995, but in just a few years, it has managed to carve out a role for itself as an absolute protagonist in the world of wine, thanks to its foresight and passion, its work in the vineyard and its ability to transmit the poetry contained in each bottle.
The Planeta family, of ancient Spanish origin, over 17 generations, that is from 1525 to the present day, has been committed to the promotion of Sicilian wine excellence, culminating in the great modern production reality that we know today, an absolute protagonist of the Sicilian wine renaissance. With the ambitious "Planeta Terra" project, the winery has also embarked on an important path of environmental sustainability aimed at defining an eco-compatible protocol to be shared not only with producers but also with consumers.
Representing such a multifaceted region starting from a single production area would be impossible. This is why the Planeta winery has six different estates in six different areas of Sicily: Sambuca di Sicilia and Menfi (Agrigento), Vittoria (Ragusa), Noto (Siracusa), Castiglione di Sicilia (Catania) and Capo Milazzo (Messina). Such different soils and climatic conditions are bound to give rise to totally different wines, which tell of different souls of the same region: thus, Planeta can combine typical grape varieties, such as Carricante or Fiano, with excellent Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon, to tell the story and traditions of the whole of Sicily, bringing to the glass the poetry and captivating beauty of this land, which gives its wines multifaceted and equally fascinating characteristics.
"Impossibile, nell’approcciare questa azienda siciliana, non restare colpiti dalle qualità media di una produzione tanto ampia e varia, offerta ad un prezzo che definire competitivo sarebbe riduttivo"
