Brunello di Montalcino 'La Casa' Caparzo 2019

Caparzo's Brunello di Montalcino 'La Casa' was born on the hill of Montosoli and is one of Montalcino's first 'Single Vineyard' wines: five hectares at an altitude of 275 metres on marl soil, where a privileged microclimate protects the grapes from fog and frost. The nose amazes with a bouquet interwoven with hints of berries that sublimate in the rich finish of spices and vanilla. The palate is austere but balanced, warm and with great persistence. This is a wine of surprising longevity, to be left in the cellar even for decades

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 'LA CASA' CAPARZO 2019 DESCRIPTION

The Brunello di Montalcino 'La Casa' is a historic and prized label, at the qualitative apex of the Caparzo winery's production, capable of standing out for its complexity and elegance. This bottle is linked as much to the history of the estate as it is to that of the Montalcino district, having been one of the first individual vineyards bottled in the area, starting with the 1977 vintage. At that time, it was in fact common practice for Montalcino wineries to produce Brunello by blending grapes from their own plots of land. As the concept of zoning developed, more and more wineries began to bottle Brunellos from individual plots, thus enhancing the expression of the most suitable vineyards. Regarding the appellation 'La Casa', this derives from the fact that the estate was once home to a number of farmers employed by the owners of Palazzo Montosoli.

'La Casa' Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino is a 100% Sangiovese Grosso whose grapes come from a 5-hectare plot on the prestigious hill of Montosoli. The soil is marl, a type of terrain consisting of schist-clay formations, the altitude is 275 metres above sea level and the exposure ranges from south to south-east. Manual harvesting is followed by 7 days of alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins and then a further 10-15 days of post-fermentation maceration. Once the malolactic fermentation has taken place, the wine is aged for at least 24 months in oak barrels of various capacities before bottling and further resting in glass.

Intense garnet red is the colour of the Brunello di Montalcino Caparzo 'La Casa', which on the nose expresses complex hints of cherry, orange peel, tobacco, cinnamon, vanilla and berries such as raspberry, currant and blueberry. The taste is warm, ample and very intense, with fine balance, almost austere tannins and a long persistence..
