Perfect with red meats and assorted cheeses, it can be stored in the cellar for several years before opening it and appreciating all its richness
The Chateau Bellevue-La-Ferrière Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Rouge represents afull and enveloping expression of the eastern area of Bordeaux, an area less famous than the more prestigious Médoc but with very interesting potential. The Chateau Bellevue-La-Ferrière was built in the 17th century and was owned by the Ponton d'Amécourt family until 1973. Subsequently, the chateau was taken over by the Courrèche family, currently still at the helm with Thierry Courrèche, who represents the second winemaking generation of the family. The Courrèche family's objective is to express the quality potential of the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux area through a modern oenological approach.
The Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Chateau Bellevue-La-Ferrière Rouge consists of a blend of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%), varieties grown on soils composed of clay and limestone. Harvesting, carried out only when the grapes have reached full ripeness, is done using modern harvesting machines. This is followed by cold maceration of the grapes and then alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The subsequent malolactic fermentation takes place in cement containers and several racking operations are carried out during the entire process in order to limit the amount of pre-bottling filtration.
The Chateau Bellevue-La-Ferrière Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Rouge has an intense purplish red colour. The nose reveals vivid aromas of ripe red fruits, followed by balsamic hints and spicy nuances of vanilla and black pepper. The progression on the palate is rich and full-bodied, with delicate tannins supporting the overall structure. On the finish, the fruity and slightly spicy sensations previously perceived on the nose return..
