Lugana "Fabio Contato" is the spearhead of Cà Maiol winery, a historic stronghold of Lugana, near Lake Garda. A great expression that refines in barrique and in bottle and then presents itself to the glass with a wide and harmonious bouquet, with melon, citrus, ginger and aromatic herbs contours, it gives life to a full, pulpy and enveloping sip with beautiful acid vein
Cà Maiol's "Fabio Contato" is a Lugana whose name pays homage to the eldest son of Walter's family, founder of the winery in 1967. It is a white wine from Lombardy that represents the best of the winery's entire range, the fruit of many years' experience in enhancing the value of the Trebbiano di Lugana grape in the Lake Garda area.Produced in small quantities, ageing in wood gives it a particular aromatic complexity, which is also evident on the palate, when the sapidity becomes enveloping, blending with the range of flavours that can be perceived during tasting. A label that requires careful and conscious tasting.
This "Fabio Contato" Lugana originates from the grapes of Trebbiano di Lugana, a vine that reaches truly high yields around Lake Garda. The climate is in fact mild, while the soil is strongly clayey, of morainic derivation, creating all the prerequisites for making an excellent product. The grapes obtained from the process of destemming the bunches are pressed, and the must ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Final ageing takes place first for 6 months in French oak barriques and, after bottling by the Ca' Maiol team, for a further 6 months directly in glass.
The Lugana 'Fabio Contato' Cà Maiol reveals itself in the glass with a typically straw colour, crossed by flashes that veer more towards the golden. The nose moves on notes of exotic fruit, enriched by a multitude of different nuances, from sweet spices to aromatic herbs, arriving at slight smokier touches. On the palate it is medium-bodied, generous, with a drinkable, flowing mouthfeel that is fuelled by a pleasant freshness. A label with strong ties to the Garda territory, representing the apex of the quality pyramid of wines made by Ca' Maiol.
