NIZZA 'BANSELLA' PRUNOTTO 2021 DESCRIPTION

Prunotto's Nizza 'Bansella' is a Barbera with pulpy fruit and spicy texture, qualities that contribute to the aromatic generosity of this wine. Headed by the Marchesi Antinori, one of the oldest and most celebrated families in Italian wine, the Prunotto cellar is the protagonist of great wines, embracing the most illustrious appellations of the Langhe and Monferrato, such as Barolo, Barbaresco and, indeed, Nizza. As with the other estates owned by the Antinori family, Prunotto's production philosophy is geared towards a skilful combination of modernity and tradition, values that serve the high quality of production.

Prunotto Nizza 'Bansella' originates exclusively from Barbera grapes grown in the Nizza Monferrato area, on soils characterised by veins of silt and sand. Following the harvest, the bunches are transferred to the cellar, where they are destemmed and gently crushed. Subsequently, the mass is conveyed into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation accompanied by 6 days of maceration on the skins, all at a controlled temperature never exceeding 28 °C. Malolactic fermentation is also carried out completely and the wine is then placed to age for 12 months in second and third passage barriques, until final bottling.

Prunotto's Nizza 'Bansella' has an intense and concentrated ruby red colour. The generous aromatic bouquet brings with it vivid perceptions of black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry, followed by hints of flowers and hints of liquorice and spices. The progression on the palate is soft and full-bodied, marked by an excellent balance with the distinct freshness typical of Barbera and the velvety tannic texture. Clear sensations of berries and spices then re-emerge on the finish.
