PINOT NERO 'MIMUET' ALOIS LAGEDER 2022 DESCRIPTION

Pinot Noir "Mimuet" brings back in the glass the passion and richness of the fruits of the South Tyrolean land. The Lageder family devotes a lot of attention to this vine, well aware that the territory where the vineyards are located offers ideal conditions to enhance the Pinot Noir. In the Ladin dialect, originally spoken in the Altro Adige, "Minuet" means "according to my tastes": the work of the winery is aimed on the one hand at the development of the natural environment as much as possible without chemical interventions in the vineyard, on the other hand to direct efforts towards a very precise profile of wine.

"Mimuet" Alois Lageder is made from Pinot Noir grapes from vineyards located in Missiano and Pochi, in the province of Bolzano, at an altitude ranging from 370 to 520 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested when they are still crunchy and have the correct degree of acidity. The vines are carefully and meticulously followed according to biological and biodynamic protocols. The soils contain different layers, the lower ones gravelly and calcareous of morainic origin, and the upper ones clay. Fermentation takes place spontaneously through indigenous yeasts, followed by the aging of 12 months takes place partly in cement, partly in wood and partly in steel, precisely because the grapes have different origins and each has particular characteristics that must be distinguished.

Lageder’s Pinot Noir "Mimuet" is a pleasant surprise of freshness and exuberance. The garnet red is very clear, reminiscent of the clear mountain air. The olfactory bouquet is equally clear and there are scents of currant and raspberries, together with those more hidden and discreet herbaceous and undergrowth, with a spicy finish that makes it intriguing. In the mouth the primary impression is of fine delicacy, which crosses the taste with velvety, elegant sensations, in which tannins become presence and absence in the same way, so much are harmonized and softened. This Pinot Noir is bewildering, because it confuses with its ethereal and delicate notes, but it also brings back to the earth, its smell and its energy.
