Weingut Reinhardt's Riesling Trocken Ortswein Ruppertsberg is an expression of Rhine Riesling that stands out for its fragrance and intensity, attributes enhanced by its passage in wood. In the complex classification of German wines, the term 'Ortswein' denotes those wines from the best vineyards in a circumscribed area, a concept comparable to that of the Burgundian village. In this case, the grapes for this label come from the surroundings of the village of Ruppertsberg, located in the heart of the Palatinate wine region.
Trocken Ortswein Ruppertsberg Weingut Reinhardt Riesling is made exclusively from grapes of the white Riesling variety of the same name, cultivated in accordance with the rules of organic farming. The grapes come in particular from the Nußbien and Reiterpfad vineyards in the municipality of Ruppertsberg, which are characterised by a particularly warm microclimate and red sandstone and limestone marl soils. After manual harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is matured for a few months in oak barrels until final bottling, which takes place with a residual sugar content of less than 5 g/l, in the Trocken category therefore.
The Riesling Ruppertsberg Ortswein Trocken from Weingut Reinhardt has a straw-yellow colour with golden hues. Inviting perceptions of lemon, yellow-fleshed fruit, hawthorn and blond tobacco emerge from the glass, meeting hints of yeast and hay and mineral notes of wet stone. The palate reveals good structure and intensity, as well as a marked freshness that preludes to the clean and pleasantly rough development, with fragrant and balanced persistence.
