Sauvignon Castelvecchio 2023
Castelvecchio

Sauvignon Castelvecchio 2023

The Sauvignon of Castelvecchio is a creation born on the Carso plateau and raised by the biting Bora. It immediately shows itself with the characteristic notes of asparagus and artichoke varietal, immediately replaced by exotic fruit due to pineapple and kiwi, white peach and green apple. The sip is particularly pleasant due to the balance created between flavor and freshness with a slight spicy finish

SAUVIGNON CASTELVECCHIO 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Sauvignon from the Friulian winery Castelvecchio is a fresh and aromatically rich version of this famous French grape variety, which arrived in Friuli Venezia Giulia in the second half of the 19th century. The vineyards are cultivated in the Carso Goriziano area, in an area between the Slovenian border and the Adriatic coast. It is a Sauvignon with a typically Mediterranean and marine character, expressing an intensely aromatic bouquet with ripe fruit notes, vegetal nuances and soft tropical hints, which make for a broad, long and persistent sip.

Sauvignon wine is an interpretation of one of the world's most famous and best-loved white grape varieties due to its seductive, slightly aromatic profile. The Castelvecchio winery cultivates it on a beautiful estate near the town of Sagrado, on the high plateau of the Gorizia Karst. The vineyards are gently kissed by the sun, the mild breezes of the nearby Mediterranean and lashed by the cold winds that blow violently from the northeast. The limestone soils, which are also particularly favoured by Sauvignon in the Loire Valley region, are perfect for the vine to express its elegance, finesse and richness of aromas. The result is a wine that faithfully respects the varietal characteristics of the vine, enriching them with some marine and Mediterranean nuances typical of the wonderful terroir of the Karst.

The white Sauvignon, produced by the Castelvecchio winery, is made from a gentle pressing of the best grapes selected directly in the vineyard, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine rests a few months in stainless steel before being bottled. In the glass, it presents itself with a brilliant straw-yellow colour. The olfactory profile offers fragrant notes of white peach, slight hints of herbs, soft aromas of pineapple and the sweetness of tropical fruit. The sip is aromatically intense and rich, with a mature and expressive centre of the mouth. The finish is fresh and harmonious, with a finish that returns to pleasantly fruity and spicy notes.
