I Carpini's Spumante Brut 'Chiaror Sul Masso Etichetta Nera' is an excellent experiment from grapes native to the area around the winery. It is a truly distinctive classic method, partly because of its style and partly because of where it comes from, famous for whites but not yet for sparkling wine production. The result is an intense bubble, with fragrant aromas of white flowers and honey, as well as delicate toasted hints. On the palate it immediately impresses with structure, minerality and savouriness.
The Spumante Brut 'Chiaror sul Masso Etichetta Nera' from the Piedmontese craft winery I Carpini is a Metodo Classico with a complex and structured style. Located in Pozzol Groppo, on the Colli Tortonesi in the province of Alessandria, the I Carpini winery relies exclusively on the territory's two main grape varieties: Barbera for the reds and Timorasso for the whites. The latter variety, indigenous precisely to the Colli Tortonesi, has been experiencing a rebirth in recent decades after a long period of oblivion following the phylloxera crisis, after which farmers replaced the vineyards dedicated to it with other more productive and resistant grapes. Today, Timorasso is appreciated for its considerable qualitative potential, as well as its ability to give rise to both great white wines and delicious orange wines and sparkling wines.
Chiaror sul Masso Etichetta Nera' I Carpini Spumante Brut comes from a single white grape variety cultivated at an altitude of 370-380 metres above sea level, with a cool north and north-east exposure. Agronomic management is based on the principles of holistic organic farming while the harvest is carried out entirely by hand, accompanied by careful selection of the grapes. In the cellar, the grapes undergo a pellicular maceration of just one day, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the must. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle in accordance with the Metodo Classico, combined with a 36-month resting period on the lees. This is followed by disgorging and dosage.
Spumante Brut I Carpini 'Chiaror sul Masso Etichetta Nera' is an intense straw yellow with subtle effervescence. The nose perceives complex notes of summer fruit, citrus, honey and acacia blossom, enriched by hints of minerals and bakery. The taste, with excellent structure and amplitude, is supported by the fresh-savoury component and fine bubbles.
