ROSATO 'ROSA CAOLINO' TENUTA DI CASTELLARO 2023 DESCRIPTION

Castellaro Estate's "Rosa Caolino" Rosé is a satisfying spring of fruit and sunshine, encapsulating all the moods of the island. We cannot deny a visceral passion for island wines, which are capable, like few others, of telling the story of their territory of origin and its essence in such an engaging and sensual way. This surprising rosé produced in Lipari by Tenuta di Castellaro, a reality founded by Massimo Lentsch, an entrepreneur from Bergamo who, after a wine project in Ragusa, decided to embark on another adventure by taking over 20 hectares on this island with enormous potential, is no exception. The meeting with Salvo Foti, the enhancement of local indigenous grape varieties such as Malvasia delle Lipari, Corinto, Carricante, and Nero d'Avola, and extremely vocated and differentiated plots are the reasons why wines from the estate are so expressive and multifaceted. Beauty.

The wine "Rosa Caolino" is made from a blend of Corinto Nero, Nerello Mascalese and a small balance of other local indigenous vines, with vineyards that rest on volcanic soils and are located at an altitude of about 350 meters. In the vineyard, the dictates of organic farming are followed, excluding the use of herbicides, systemic or other chemicals, while in the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation is carried out in steel and repeated racking so as to separate the wine from the coarse lees. The liquid ages for 6 months in steel on the fine lees.

The rosé 'Rosa Caolino' presents itself in the glass with an intense and bright rosé guise. The nose is a compendium of fruit and sea, so currant and wild strawberry are counterbalanced by saline reflexes and hints of wild scrub. The sip is satisfying and streamlined, in perfect balance between pulp and the saline timbre typical of the area. Clean freshness for a wine that gives its best on the table but also before and after.
