WHISKY SINGLE MALT SPEYSIDE 'SPEY - LINKWOOD' SAMAROLI DESCRIPTION

Legendary Italian independent bottler Samaroli makes a stop on Speyside with this Spey - Linkwood Single Malt Whisky, crafted on the premises of a historic winery. Linkwood Distillery was founded way back in 1821 in the vicinity of Elgin, some fifty kilometres north-east of Inverness and near the shores of the North Sea, but farmer Peter Brown had to wait three years before the Excise Act came into force and whisky production became legal. The original foundation was demolished and rebuilt for the first time in 1874, flanked after about a century by a larger building: the two workshops operated together until 1985, before making way for the more modern distillery alone.
The Speyside Single Malt Whisky 'Spey - Linkwood' is Samaroli's signature declination of a classic Scottish terroir in an elegant and sensual key. The spirit is produced in the traditional way in steam-heated stills, while the slow maturation period takes place in first-use oak barrels, previously used for Bourbon. The alcohol content is lowered to 45° at bottling through the use of pure water from the Millbuies springs.
The bright appearance of the Speyside Single Malt Whisky 'Spey - Linkwood' proposed by Samaroli is accompanied by a robe of intense golden hues. The bouquet is particularly broad and articulate, introduced by a deep spiciness that leads all the way to incense. The aromas emerge in a surprising sequence of horticultural freshness, with savoury notes of aubergine and unripe crispness of pepper, underlined by a wild and sunny floral richness, while a balsamic vein of lavender emerges. Sugary touches of peach and powdery tertiary notes give an idea of the taste, which reveals itself to be of great depth: on the palate, an enveloping and caloric richness explodes, through a long persistent sip with a final spicy accent.
