Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Whisky is a label that offers an unusual version of the great Single Malts of the Hebrides. Contrary to many interpretations characterised by intense smoky aromas, resulting from an abundant use of peat, this bottle presents only slight smoky nuances, retaining the pleasantness of malt, dried fruit and spices. It is a Single Malt with a more traditional face, perfect for those who want to approach the world of the great Hebrides Whiskies or for those who like complexity and harmonious, balanced aromatic richness.
The Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old is a Whisky that originates from an old distillery in Port Askaig. The distillery was founded in 1881 and is located right on the seashore along the east coast of the famous island of Islay, which belongs to the Inner Hebrides archipelago. Even today, it still represents an important reference point for enthusiasts, who love its unique, elegant and refined character. The production process is based on a selection of malts of different varieties. At the end of the fermentation phase, distillation takes place in traditional copper Pot Stills, under the watchful and competent eye of Master Distiller Brendan Mc Carron. Ageing takes place in noble oak barrels previously used to age Bourbon or liqueur wines from Jerez de la Frontera. Before bottling, which takes place without cold filtration, the distillate is lowered in degree with pure water from the Margadale River.
Bunnahabhain Distillery's 12 Year Old Whisky is a single malt with a classic character, elegantly expressing the typical notes of great spirits, enhanced by the refined tertiary notes of ageing in precious woods. It is a luminous golden colour with light amber reflections. The nose is characterised by aromas of ripe fruit, dried fruit, toasted hazelnuts, hints of vanilla and spices, malty softness and caramel, marine and brackish nuances. Intense and smooth, it has an enveloping and warming sip, with good aromatic complexity and considerable depth. The finish is long, closing on pleasantly spicy notes.
