Bianco 448 slm Girlan 2023

Girlan's White "448 SLM" was born in Cornaiano in the province of Bolzano in the beautiful setting of the Alto Adige mountains. The winery was founded in 1923 within a historic farmhouse dating back to the 16th century: 23 winemakers shared a project and laid the foundation for the current winery under the leadership of Johann Kofler Krautschneider. Between 1961 and 1980, the Spitaler family's winemakers began experimenting and observing vineyard trends and vine yields, resulting in the production of products of impeccable quality: in 1980 the Trattmannhof Mazon Pinot Noir was first marketed. As production grew, the winery building was expanded in 2016, giving it a modern architectural style, yet in keeping with the tradition of the soil. Today, the winery has more than 200 winemakers with as many hectares of land fully planted with vines.

The vineyards of Girlan's White "448 SLM" are located 448 meters above sea level and that is where this product gets its name. The winery's historic vineyards, which grow on soils mainly composed of minerals sedimented during the Ice Age, are used for production. Attention to nature and sustainability of the work in the vineyard is very important: the soil is fertilized through the planting of legumes, organic fertilizers are used and irrigation is controlled with the use of drip systems. The grapes are harvested manually, and in the cellar the bunches are softly crushed. It ferments in steel and also ages in steel for several months.

The color of Girlan's White "448 SLM" is a straw yellow with bright highlights; on the nose it releases aromas of ripe white-fleshed fruits such as pear and peach, and on the finish there are notes of white summer flowers. On the palate it is fine, elegant and enveloping with a good freshness that entices glass after glass. In pairing it is recommended with shellfish and seafood dishes as appetizers, elaborate fish soups and grilled fish; also interesting with seasonal vegetable dishes and fresh cow's milk cheeses.
