Podere Ranieri

Podere Ranieri represents a wine-growing reality inextricably linked to the territory it cultivates, that of the Tuscan Maremma, an area that owner Michele Ranieri preserves and 'pampers' through sustainable and artisanal viticulture. The estate is located precisely in Massa Marittima, in the province of Grosseto, where the Ranieri family has been involved in agriculture for several generations. However, the turning point came in 2010, when Michele decided to leave his job in Milan to follow the call of the land and take up the family's agricultural legacy. Michele, the soul of the winery, is personally involved in all stages of the production process, from the vineyard to the final marketing, supported by his father Rodolfo. In addition to viticulture, the two are involved in oil production and the cultivation of vegetables such as artichokes.
Podere Ranieri's 2.5 hectares of vineyards are planted about 60 metres above sea level, on loamy and sandy soil on the surface and clayey just below, rich in mineral elements such as iron. The plants, surrounded by olive trees, woods and Mediterranean scrub, benefit from the proximity of the sea, which results in the constant presence of sea breezes. On the basis of these pedoclimatic parameters, Michele Ranieri cultivates Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon among the black grapes, Trebbiano, Viognier and Incrocio Manzoni among the white ones. The producer's agronomic approach is highly sustainable, based on the principles of organic farming, also aimed at limiting grape yields per hectare in order to raise the quality of the grapes. According to the same genuine production philosophy, work in the cellar is non-interventionist, with simple and non-invasive operations.
This is how Podere Ranieri's labels are born, unconventional expressions far from the logic of the market that intend to communicate in a simple way the philosophy and the territory behind them.
