Girlan's Rosato 448 slm is a rosé wine excellent value for money, characterized by pleasant, delicate fragrances of berries and wild strawberries. On the palate it is fresh, light and flowing, with excellent balance
The Rosé '448 s.l.m.' from the South Tyrolean winery Girlan takes the form of an accessible and pleasant drink crafted through a blend of red grapes. The appellation of this label indicates the elevation at which Girlan's historic farm is located. It was on this very farm, dating back to the 16th century, that the estate saw its beginnings in 1923, thanks to 23 winemakers who decided to join forces to make a quality production. Today the winery has grown to its current 200 winegrowing members, engaged in the cultivation of 220 hectares of vineyards scattered in the best production areas of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina.
Girlan '448 s.l.m.' Rosé comes from a blend of Lagrein, Pinot Noir and Schiava, vines grown on sandy soils of sedimentary-glacial origin that are particularly rich in minerals. Harvesting is done manually in small crates, and the clusters are then partly destemmed, followed by 12 hours of pellicular maceration, and partly subjected to the salassage technique, with an aliquot of macerating must be removed. Fermentations take place in stainless steel tanks, and following blending, the mass rests for about 5 months, again in stainless steel, before final bottling.
The '448 s.l.m.' Girlan's Rosé is bright and deep pink in colour. The nose expresses crisp hints of strawberry and wild berries, followed by pleasant, fresh floral and mineral hints. In the mouth, it is delicate, light and refreshing, with a savoury and pleasantly aromatic finish consistent with the perceptions on the nose. The producer himself recommends pairing Rosato '448 s.l.m.' with Mediterranean cuisine or with boards of cured meats and lightly aged cheeses.
