Spirito Reale's Amaro Agrumato is a bitter with character produced in Moriondo Torinese in the Distillerie Sabaude. Hints of sweet and bitter orange dominate the nose, accompanied by spicy hints of cardamom and rhubarb. On the palate, perfectly balanced, the sip is fresh and culminates in an enveloping finish. Perfect neat or on the rocks, it is also ideal as an aperitif diluted with tonic water
Amaro Agrumato by Spirito Reale is a bitter played on the freshness and fragrance of citrus fruits, produced according to a recipe inspired by 19th century bitters. Originating in South-East Asia, citrus fruits have been present in Italy since at least the time of Ancient Rome, as witnessed by famous finds including 'La Casa del Frutteto', a domus in Pompeii rich in frescoes from the 2nd-1st century B.C. depicting, among others, lemon trees. In addition to the goodness of their fruit, citrus fruits also spread over the centuries for their ornamental beauty, decorating aristocratic villas all over the Peninsula, from Lake Garda to Sicily, passing through Liguria, Tuscany, Campania and countless other regions. The term 'citrus fruit' then derives from the Latin 'acrumen', meaning 'acid', to emphasise the fruit's remarkable concentration of organic acids.
Spirito Reale Amaro Agrumato originates from the skilful combination of four main ingredients: water, alcohol, sugar and natural aromas. The recipe, inspired by 19th century tradition, is aimed at achieving the ideal balance of taste and aroma. The liqueur is finally marketed in an elegant bottle characterised by a mahogany-coloured label that echoes the shade of this bitter.
Amaro Agrumato di Spirito Reale presents itself with a dark orange hue with auburn highlights. The intense nose is described by deep hints of bitter orange peel that blend with hints of rhubarb and cardamom and delicate floral hints reminiscent of orange blossom. Fresh and enveloping on the palate, characterised by a sweet entry soon joined by a refreshing and pleasantly bitter finish of excellent persistence and fragrance.
