AMARONE CLASSICO RISERVA 'SERGIO ZENATO' 2018 DESCRIPTION

Zenato's Amarone Classico Riserva 'Sergio Zenato' is part of the collection dedicated to one of the most important personalities of this historic family of winemakers from Veneto. It is one of the spearheads of the winery and to maintain a very high quality, it is only produced in the best vintages. Fruit of grapes from the estate's oldest vineyards and made with special care, it expresses a very intense, soft, complex and enveloping character. A wine of great charm to be enjoyed among connoisseurs on a special evening. Ideal to accompany stews or braised red meats or game.

Amarone Classico Riserva 'Sergio Zenato' wine represents the excellence of one of the most famous wineries in the Veneto region. The Zenato winery manages an estate with a total extension of over 70 hectares, with fine vineyards in the Valpolicella and Lugana areas. The grapes come from a selection of the best vineyards of Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina located in the hilly area of S. Ambrogio di Valpolicella, at an altitude of 300-350 metres above sea level, with south-east, south-west exposure. After the harvest, which takes place between the end of September and the beginning of October, the healthiest and ripest bunches are left to dry for four months in special drying lofts with a dry and ventilated microclimate, in order to dehydrate the grapes and concentrate aromas and sugars. This is followed by fermentation with maceration on the skins for two to three weeks, followed by an ageing period of four years in large oak casks and a year's refinement in the bottle.

The red Amarone Classico Riserva 'Sergio Zenato' from the Zenato winery is one of the most prestigious versions of this important wine from Valpolicella, which has become a true ambassador of the area throughout the world. To the eye it is dark red in colour, dense and concentrated. Intense and complex, it has an aromatic palette of notable expressive richness, with aromas of small berry jam, hints of plum, cherries under spirits, vanilla, soft oriental spices, notes of tobacco and dark chocolate. Ample, warm and persuasive, it has velvety tannins and a harmonious and very persistent sip. It has considerable ageing potential, exceeding twenty years.
