The La Tunella winery, an important reality in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, has studied with great attention the indigenous grape varieties of these areas and has used all its expertise to offer enthusiasts a wine of exquisite quality. Tunella "L'Arcione" blends two native Friulian grape varieties, Pignolo and Schioppettino. The vineyards stretch across the hills of the Colli Orientali, with a climate that enjoys the position of the Julian Alps, sheltering from cold winds and the Adriatic Sea mitigating. The soil consists of marl and sandstone, the so-called "ponca." Harvesting takes place in the first week of October, and the grapes are placed in special boxes for a short drying period. They are then crushed, separated, fermented with maceration on the skins, and passed into French oak tonneaux. It is aged for as many as 4 years in the same barrels, then blended and bottled.
