Barbaresco Riserva "Montefico" is one of several labels from the Produttori del Barbaresco winery. The wine comes from a small cru, which is located east of the village of Barbaresco, just below the Ovello area. The Additional Geographical Mention area of Montefico has always been famous for giving a Barbaresco with subtle and austere traits, all played on finesse and expressive tension. Here the Nebbiolo expresses itself with floral notes, delicate fruity aromas, hints of licorice and a particularly elegant, fresh and deep sip. A Barbaresco that is already enjoyable in its youth, but also possesses considerable potential for evolution and aging.
Barbaresco Riserva "Montefico" is produced by one of the most interesting protagonists of the appellation. The winery of the Barbaresco Producers is a cooperative founded after World War II and today manages 110 hectares, which are owned by about fifty contributing members. Vineyards are scattered throughout the various cru of the appellation. Separate vinifications make it possible to enhance the characteristics of each area and to market, in addition to an assemblage Barbaresco, as many as 9 labels of Barbaresco, each corresponding to an Additional Geographical Mention. Thanks to careful vineyard management and careful work in the cellar, the Barbaresco Producers have been able to interpret the nuances of the terroir, offering bottles sought after by enthusiasts eager to learn about the different facets of this extraordinary Langhe terroir.
Barbaresco Riserva "Montefico" by Produttori del Barbaresco is made with grapes from vines cultivated at an altitude of about 250 meters, with southern, southwestern exposure, in the Montefico cru of the same name. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with a maceration period on the skins of about 4 weeks. The wine matures for 36 months in oak barrels and completes aging with 12 months in bottle. In the glass it has a ruby red color tending to garnet and gives floral aromas, aromas of small red berries, nuances of spices and licorice root. The sip is dynamic and vertical, with a delicate center of the mouth and a very fresh and mineral finish. A great Barbaresco with a refined face.
