This Renato Ratti "Battaglione" is a Barbera d'Alba that originates from the grapes of a variety that has always been widely cultivated within the regional borders of Piedmont, the Barbera. The Renato Ratti winery harvests this variety between the end of September and the beginning of October, when the berries have reached full ripeness. After destemming the bunches and pressing the grapes, the must obtained ferments in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature of between 28 and 30 degrees. Maceration lasts an average of 7-10 days. This is followed by ageing, which takes place for 12 months in wooden barrels of various capacities.
Barbera d'Alba "Battaglione" announces itself to the eye with an intense ruby red colour, characterised by light reflections tending towards purple on the rim. The nose has substantially fruity notes, enhanced by lighter touches of undergrowth, spices and macerated flowers. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, round and supple, with a mouthfeel endowed with good freshness; it ends with a finish that is surprising for its persistence.
