"Bricco della Bigotta" is an intense and vigorous expression of Barbera d'Asti: a structured red wine of excellent freshness and elegance, aged for 15 months in barrique. Sensations of licorice, fruit and vanilla emerge on the nose. The sip reveals great balance, depth and remarkable progression
"Bricco della Bigotta" is a great Braida house red wine, the flagship Barbera, along with "Bricco dell'Uccellone," of the famous Monferrato winery founded by Giacomo Bologna. Its name is a sympathetic tribute to an old lady who lived near the vineyard where Giacomo Bologna cultivated his Barbera grapes, accustomed to formal and exhibited devotional practices. The story goes that the wine was created after a cardinal, a great lover of Barbera, asked Giacomo to change the name to "Bricco dell'Uccellone," because it was causing embarrassment in the Vatican, where it was much appreciated. In response to the request, Giacomo thus created a new vineyard and a new label: the "Bricco della Bigotta."
Barbera d'Asti "Bricco della Bigotta" comes from one of the best vineyards in Rocchetta Tanaro, planted on a medium-textured soil rich in sand and clay, conditions that allow the production of a wine with an intensely aromatic and flavour spectrum. In the winery, the must ferment with maceration on the skins for 20 days. A long maturation of 15 months in barriques and another 12 complete the production process and contribute to the balance and great aromatic richness of this Barbera.
"Bricco della Bigotta" offers an elegant aromatic range, broad and well-evolved. On the palate, the ripeness and juiciness of the fruit dominate over any woody notes, offering an extraordinary mix of fruit and spices with complex and well-integrated notes. This is a Barbera of excellence that lends itself to the accompaniment of red meats and aged cheeses for an exciting, dreamy gastronomic experience.
