Barbera 'Vicini' Jean Yves Peron 2019
Jean-Yves Péron

Barbera 'Vicini' Jean Yves Peron 2019

Barbera “Vicini” from Jean Yves Peron is a red wine that is part of the 'negociant' project of Jean-Yves Peron, a winemaker from Savoy who is in love with Italian wines. His collaboration with Piedmont began with two producers in Monferrato, who supply red grapes that are however vinified beyond the Alps. The nose has intense red fruit aromas that meet aromatic herbs and chocolate on the finish. In the mouth it is crisp, with great intensity and freshness, a wine from the hills but produced with mountain wisdom

BARBERA 'VICINI' JEAN YVES PERON 2019 DESCRIPTION

Jean-Yves Péron's Barbera "Vicini" is produced in Savoie, at the westernmost border of our Peninsula. The winery was born in 2017 thanks to Jean-Yves' passion for the world of wine production: having completed his studies in biochemistry, he decided to follow his interest in the wine industry by gaining experience in Bordeaux, Cornas and flying to Oceania to gain a wide and varied knowledge. Back in Chevaline, he began his business in collaboration with two Italian winemakers, following a working philosophy oriented toward respect for the environment and the raw material.

Jean-Yves Péron's Barbera "Vicini" vineyards are located between 350 and 500 meters above sea level and cover about 2 hectares in total. The viticulture can be considered heroic, since the vines are positioned on steep slopes: they are cared for solely by hand and biodynamic principles are chosen in order to indulge the natural development and growth phases of the raw material. Once the harvest is completed, the grapes are brought to the winery where spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place thanks to indigenous yeasts and a short carbonic maceration; it is aged 16 months in wood.

The color of Jean-Yves Péron's Barbera "Vicini" is a deep ruby red. On the nose it releases hints of black cherry, strawberry and dark chocolate with a finish reminiscent of aromatic herbs; on the palate it is intense, dry with an important presence of tannins, however well integrated in the overall structure balanced a pleasant final freshness. In pairing it is excellent with mixed cold cuts, white and red stewed meats; also interesting with aged cheeses. A product with unique flavors that recalls the potential of an often forgotten land and is suitable to be drunk with friends during carefree evenings.
