BOLGHERI ROSSO 'VOLPOLO' PODERE SAPAIO 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Bolgheri Rosso "Volpolo" is really a pleasant surprise. Yes, because in this area of the Maremma it is difficult to establish the names of the historic labels, but Podere Sapaio, a winery founded at the end of the millennium, in 1999, is trying hard to fit into the elite of Bolgheri wines, also thanks to the work done by Carlo Ferrini, internationally renowned oenologist who supervises the production. This is an award-winning label, with a harmonious character and good longevity, which amazes for its elegance and ease of drinking. It deserves more than a taste: good!

This "Volpolo" Bolgheri Rosso originates from an international cut, in which Cabernet Sauvignon plays the part of the protagonist, in fact we find it in the final blend with a 70%, accompanied by equal percentages of Merlot and Petit Verdot. After the harvest, strictly manual, the bunches are brought in boxes in the premises of the winery Podere Sapaio used for vinification, to be de-stemmed. The must obtained by pressing the berries ferments at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, macerating for a long time on the skins. The maturation, which has a total duration of 14 months, takes place both in barrique and in French tonneaux.

Bolgheri Rosso "Volpolo" shows its classic ruby color. To the nose are perceived sensations that bring back to the small fruits of the forest, enriched by more spicy notes, that peep on the finish. The mouthfeel is full-bodied, wide and captivating to the palate, with a sip from which emerge savory and fresh veins that make the drink a real enjoyment. A label with which the winery Podere Sapaio, one of the most interesting producers of Bolzano born in the last twenty years, agrees with the main criticism of national and international sector.
