BORDEAUX SUPERIEUR 'CUVÉE ANNE-LAURE' CHATEAU GRAND PUCH 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Bordeaux Superieur 'Cuvée Anne-Laure' from Chateau du Grand Puch is a Bordeaux blend of great fruit intensity that originates in the Entre-deux-Mers territory, the largest sub-zone of the Bordeaux wine region. The Chateau du Grand Puch, built between the 13th and 14th centuries at the behest of Monsignor Gailhard du Puch, is a veritable Bordeaux architectural gem, considered to be one of the best-preserved monuments of 13th- and 14th-century architecture in the entire Gironde department.

The 'Cuvée Anne-Laure' Chateau du Grand Puch Bordeaux Superieur is made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on slopes formed partly by gravel and partly by clay and limestone. The vines areabout 30 years old on average, and the harvest is carried out using modern harvesting machines only when the grapes have reached full ripeness. Oenological practice first involves destemming and crushing the grapes, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks with maceration on the skins, accompanied by 2-3 daily pumping over. Before final bottling, the wine matures for about 10 months between steel tanks and cement containers.

To the eye, the Bordeaux Superieur Chateau du Grand Puch 'Cuvée Anne-Laure' reveals an intense ruby red colour with violet hues. The aromatic profile is delineated by intriguing descriptors of ripe fruits such as blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry, enriched by hints of tobacco and cedar and an undercurrent of spices and scorched earth. The taste is very fresh and fleshy, with a pleasant savouriness and momentum, and a soft, simple tannic texture enhancing the intensely fruity finish.
