Osvaldo Soddu's Cannonau 'Brulleri -Ghirada Bruncu Boeli' is an excellent expression of the reds of Mamioada. The grapes grow at an altitude of 630 metres, in the Bruncu Boeli vineyards, and are vinified traditionally with spontaneous fermentation and minimal use of sulphites. After 12 months in barrel and a further 8 months in bottle, the result is an intense yet elegant wine. Ripe red fruits and roasted notes emerge on the nose, while in the mouth it surprises with its balance and elegance despite the power
The Cannonau 'Brulleri - Ghirada Bruncu Boeli' of artisanal winemaker Osvaldo Soddu represents a true expression of the Mamoiada territory, endowed with a generous and extrovert personality. Since 2004, Osvaldo has been cultivating a small plot inherited from his family, using sustainable and truly artisanal practices. The plot is located just outside the municipality of Mamoiada, in Ghirada Bruncu Boeli, right in front of the winery itself. With the 2019 vintage, Osvaldo started bottling and marketing the first labels under his own name.
Osvaldo Soddu's Cannonau 'Brulleri - Ghirada Bruncu Boeli' comes from only Cannonau grapes cultivated according to organic farming principles. The vines are bush-trained on granite soils at an altitude of 630 metres above sea level. After manual harvesting, the grapes are placed in wooden barrels for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by about two weeks of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is placed to age for 12 months in French oak tonneaux and after a further refinement of at least 8 months in the bottle, this Cannonau is finally ready for release. Throughout the entire process, the mass then undergoes no filtration or clarification while the doses of added sulphites are kept very low.
Osvaldo Soddu's 'Brulleri - Ghiarada Bruncu Boeli' Cannonau presents itself in the glass with a dark, impenetrable ruby red colour. On the nose, vivid fruity sensations of strawberry, raspberry and blackberry alternate with intense hints of liquorice, with intriguing animal nuances of leather to complement them. Very intense and warm on the palate, with a robust structure and consistent presence, well balanced by soft tannins and a pleasant fresh-savoury shoulder.
