Is Arenas is the leading wine of a project of enhancement dedicated to Carignano grape variety and brought on for many years by the winecellar Sardus Pater, one of the most prolific italian cooperative that nowadays counts more than 200 members and a vine heritage divided between brand new fields and historical ungrafted vineyards planted more than one hundred years ago, in the pre-phylloxera period. The scenario is the one of Sant'Antioco island, a striking piece of land sorrounded by the sea in the South-West of Sardinia, that host in its sandy land, among the typical vegetation of the Mediterranean area, one of the most evocative viticulture patrimony in Italy, with a strong prevalence of Carignano which originates Is Arenas. The choice of Sardus Pater to leave the technical management of the wine cellar in the hands of the famous oenologist Riccardo Cottarella allowed to reach an high qualitative level, with the development of a wide wine range, astonishing for stylistic accuracy and allegiance to the traditional model of the region.
