"Casa e Chiesa" by Tenuta Lenzini is an every day red wine made with Merlot grapes produced in Lucchesi hills by the vignerons Benedetta and Michele. An enjoyable and fresh juice, vinified in steel and concrete tanks capable of giving an artisan and rustic sip, sincere and satisfying, intersected by salty and blood veins that amplify the natural gastronomic strength.
"Casa e Chiesa" is a straightforward, simple and fresh Merlot produced by one of the most convincing and interesting realities of the hills of Lucca. "There are aromatic nuances that you do not expect; sensory alchemies that cannot be explained except by rediscovering the expressiveness of nature, the origins of a territory." With this sentence we can sum up the thoughts of Michele and Benedetta Lenzini, two young wine artisans, linked in life and by the vine. The talented youngsters guard the 24 hectares inherited from their grandfather with an extremely sensitive approach, rigorously applying the pure principles of biodynamics. Simplicity, talent and passion are reflected in this everyday, convivial red, which tells with disarming simplicity the nature of the fruit in its juiciest and most pleasing form. A terroir juice particularly appreciated for its exquisitely gastronomic and genuine soul!
Lenzini's Rosso "Casa e Chiesa" is named after the location of the vineyards, located, in fact, between Michele-Benedetta's house and the church in the small town of Gragnano. Merlot vines have been acclimatized in these lands for centuries and grow luxuriantly in a soil that is alive, pure and rich in biodiversity. A "reasoned viticulture," so defined by the winery, allows for healthy grapes that tell the moods of the vintage and the naturalness of the land. In the winery, likewise, we continue with what the winery calls "emotional enology." This is a minimally invasive approach that forbids any form of intervention in the must such as clarifications, filtrations or addition of sulfites. Fermentations take place spontaneously by the intervention of indigenous yeasts in tanks without any temperature control. This is followed by aging in steel and cement for about 24 months.
"House and Church" shows a dark, concentrated veil that echoes the ruby hue. The nose is a riot of dark-hued juicy fruit: wild blackberries, plum and black berries. Notes of earth, forest fragrances, peppery brush strokes and light underbrush nuances amplify and enrich the bouquet. Freshness dominates the palate, mouthwatering, rustic and satisfying, diluted by the variety's innate roundness and meatiness. A drinkable, sincere and pleasant sip, invigorated by a lively tannic texture. Irresistible!
