CHARDONNAY 'GAUN' ALOIS LAGEDER 2021 DESCRIPTION

Alois Lageder's 'Gaun' Chardonnay is a South Tyrolean white wine that reveals its aromatic complexity right from the start. Refined and broad is in fact the olfactory profile that unfolds on the nose as soon as one swirls the 'Gaun' in the glass, a scenario that then continues on the palate, where the sip announces itself as fresh and crisp, particularly tasty. A bottle with a strong vocation for the table, where it is classically paired with first and second courses of fish: to be even more daring, it should be tasted in combination with white meat recipes cooked with delicate preparations.

The 'Gaun' Alois Lageder is a pure Chardonnay that is cultivated on the alluvial cone of Magrè, at about 230-250 metres above sea level. Here, the soils are sandy, gravelly and limey, and between the rows (where the yield per hectare never exceeds 53 hectolitres), the working methods are based on organic and biodynamic agriculture. The grapes are gently pressed, and the must begins fermentation spontaneously in steel tanks, thanks to indigenous yeasts. The final stage of maturation takes place on the lees and lasts 5 months, using both steel containers and large wooden barrels.

Alois Lageder's 'Gaun' white wine reveals itself in the glass with a golden yellow colour, crossed by some slight reflections tending more towards greenish on the rim. Layered is the ensemble of aromas that envelops the nose, from which emerge sensations of citrus peel and fruit - even exotic fruit - as well as more mineral hints and buttery nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied tending towards medium, with a round and accomplished taste, characterised by a fresh flavour that continues on the finish with a good persistence. A bottle that wants to pay homage to an international grape variety, the Chardonnay, which has been present in the area surrounding Magrè for over 150 years.
