Chianti Classico Gran Selezione di Capannelle is a pure Sangiovese, made from low-yield organic grapes. Fermentation in steel and then 12 months in Slavonian oak vats, to give a wine with a sleek fruitiness and plenty of complexity to accompany it. It releases aromas of red fruits, with ample hints of undergrowth and Mediterranean scrub, such as rosemary. On the palate it is elegant and harmonious, with velvety tannins and a freshness that lingers in a lingering finish
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from the Tuscan winery Capannelle is a pure Sangiovese that stands out for its complex and profound personality and great impact. Since 1974, its year of birth, the Capannelle winery, then led by entrepreneur Raffaele Rossetti, has decided to focus decisively on the traditional grape varieties of the Chianti area, Sangiovese in primis. This famous variety, symbol of traditional Tuscan oenology, is cultivated and processed in the cellar to give rise to wines of great territorial adherence, such as this Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, a typology that indicates the highest qualitative expression of the denomination.
Capannelle Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is produced using only Sangiovese grapes cultivated according to an agronomic approach inspired by the dictates of organic farming, with low grape yields per hectare. Following the harvest, the grapes are transferred to the cellar where they are mellowed in stainless steel vats, containers in which alcoholic fermentation takes place with maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is racked into 13-30 hectolitre conical Slavonian oak vats for ageing for at least 12 months. The definitive release on the market takes place no earlier than 30 months after the harvest.
The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione signed Capannelle has a lively and intense ruby colour. The nose displays ample and captivating sensations of red fruits, undergrowth, liquorice, spices and Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary. Elegant and harmonious on the palate, with a marked fresh-savoury component that combines with the velvety tannic texture in a very long persistent progression on consistent perceptions of berries and various spices.
