Tenuta di Carleone's Chianti Classico is intended to be a pure expression of the territory of Radda in Chianti, in the historic heart of the appellation. This pure Sangiovese ferments and matures in steel and cement, to bring out the character of the grape to the full. On the nose there are typical hints of red fruits and slight hints of orange, with intriguing hints of undergrowth and liquorice. Striking on the palate for its structure and ease of drinking, the sip is sincere and embodies the typical style of this corner of Tuscany
The Chianti Classico of the artisanal Tenuta di Carleone is a label with a juicy and tasty flavour that originates in the municipality of Radda in Chianti, one of the historic areas of Chianti production. The modern history of Tenuta di Carleone is linked to the Austrian entrepreneur Karl Egger, who fell in love with the green countryside of Radda and decided to undertake wine production together with his family. He then bought a property, originally known as Tenuta Carleone di Castiglioni, which had always been devoted to viticulture, and entrusted the entire technical management to the British oenologist Sean O'Callaghan, an expert in the production of artisanal wines made without external input.
Tenuta di Carleone Chianti Classico is a 100% Sangiovese from vines grown according to organic and biodynamic farming principles, excluding the use of any synthetic chemical products. Manual harvesting is followed by red vinification with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation between stainless steel tanks, cement vats and open vats, accompanied by a long 40-60 day maceration on the skins. The subsequent maturation phase, which lasts 18 months, also takes place between steel and cement, with the wine finally being bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration.
On visual inspection, the Chianti Classico of Tenuta di Carleone shows a deep ruby red colour. The olfactory panorama highlights fresh hints of red fruits, such as currants and cherries, followed by notes of orange peel and evocative hints of underbrush and liquorice. The palate is frank and persuasive, with remarkable freshness and character, characterised by a savoury and juicy finish that invites you to return to the glass again and again.
