The Confini is one of the most intense and bold white wines from the Lis Neris winery. It is made from Gewurztraminer, Pinot Grigio and Riesling, with fermentation and aging in medium-sized barrels. Its exuberant aromatics, characterized by tropical fruit, jammy citrus, aromatic herbs and a slight residual sugar, are supported by good structure and vibrant freshness
Lis Neris' "Confini" was born in San Lorenzo Isontino in the Soča River Valley, an area vocated to producing great white wines. The Neris family began cultivating these lands as early as 1879, and the tradition has been handed down from generation to generation, with the knowledge that only mindsets open to change and innovation could make the winery's work futuristic: since 1980, the main objectives have been the superior quality of each product and the enhancement of the territory, respecting the environment and the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards.
Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer and Riesling grapes from Lis Neris' "Confini" grow on vines over 30 years old at an elevation of about 65 meters above sea level. The soil is composed of gravel and limestone for structured wines with character. Human intervention in the vineyard is respectful of the natural stages of growth and development: organic fertilizers and integrated pest management are used, with no use of synthetic chemicals or pesticides. Harvesting takes place towards the end of September and is done manually with a selection in the vineyard of the best bunches; in the cellar, alcoholic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, where the must subsequently rest for 11 months with frequent bâtonnage. Finally, it is aged in a bottle for more than 1 year.
The colour of Lis Neris' "Confini" is a golden yellow with intense and bright reflections tending to emerald green. The nose releases aromas of white summer flowers and ripe white-fleshed fruits such as apple, pear and peach in union with citrus marmalade, elderberry and aromatic herbs typical of the Mediterranean maquis. In the mouth, it is rich and enveloping, characteristics due to the substantial residual sugar present, balanced by savoriness and freshness for an interesting drink. Recommended pairings are with smoked salmon, raw and cooked grilled fish tartare; also interesting with vegetable dishes and aged cow's milk cheeses. A product that lends itself to being consumed at important celebrations to share a wine born from a hundred years of careful and constant work.
